WingStreet is a chain of restaurants that specializes in chicken and chicken wings. It is owned by the owners of Pizza Hut, Yum! Brands. As of writing, they have more than 2,000 locations across the USA, Australia and Canada. Most of the time, WingStreet restaurants are co-located with their sister franchise, Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut has been offering Buffalo-style chicken wings in 1995. When Yum! launched WingStreet in 2003 as a combo unit that will perform as a hybrid of the existing Pizza Hut, it became popular and has grown since. In 2007, Yum! opened the 1000th WingStreet restaurant.
WingStreet features traditional and breaded Buffalo wings for dine-in, take out and delivery. The restaurant offers 8 sauces or flavors in 2 levels of heat: the Saucy variety and the Spicy variety. The flavors are:
- Spicy BBQ
- Lemon Pepper
- Garlic Parmesan
- Honey BBQ
- Spicy Asian
- And the sauce-free Naked wings
There are also 3 different categories for the WingStreet wings sauce: the Buffalo Mild, Medium and Burning Hot. The Buffalo wings are cooked in 3 styles: Traditional, Bone-in and the Bone-out style. Except for the Traditional wings, the wings are cooked breaded. The Bone-out is the boneless option.
Aside from wings, WingStreet also offers food items such as chicken tenders, fried cheese sticks, apple pies and the WingStreet signature potato wedges. Some locations have jalapeno poppers, curly fries and onion rings. In 2006, 2008 and 2009, WingStreet won the National Buffalo Wing Festival award for the Best Medium Traditional Wing Sauce. In 2007, they won the Best Hot Traditional Wing Sauce in the festival. That same year, WingStreet won the Atlanta Wing Festival Best BBQ Sauce and Best Medium Sauce categories.
WingStreet offers coupons, discounts and promotions such as the 50 Cent Wing Wednesdays. Normally at $6.99 for 8 wings, with the promo you only pay $4 for the lot.
The Medium sauce is among the best sellers, because it is both spicy and savory, without the overwhelming mouth heat. You’d find the breading to be soggy after the sauce, but this is normal in all considerations. For the daring foodie, the Buffalo Burnin’ Hot flavor is recommended, with its extreme heat. The Buffalo Medium has a spicy kick, while the Buffalo Mild is flavorful without the fire. If you want a taste of Asia for the day, try the Spicy Asian and its sweet, tangy sauce. The Spicy BBQ flavor is both sassy and savory, with a bit of a kick. If you want the traditional wings with a bit of zest and freshness, you would not go wrong with the Lemon Pepper flavor, another favorite. The Garlic Parmesan flavor brings you to Italy and melds with the spicy garlick-y flavor.
If you want nothing but the wings, Try the Naked Wings and you’ll love it. It has no sauce, but it’s tasty. It is also crunchy and crispy on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside.
